UQIC social sport competitions at UQ St Lucia

UQIC Guide

Which UQ social sport should you play?

Eight sports, most nights of the week, all at UQ St Lucia. Not sure which one to pick? Here is a quick chooser by vibe, pace and how much running you feel like doing.

If you want a team classic

Soccer and futsal are the go. Big turnout, great if you have played before or just love a kick, running Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Futsal is the fast indoor version, soccer is the outdoor game. See nights on the soccer and futsal page.

If you want fast and indoors

Basketball is quick, high-scoring and undercover, so it runs rain or shine, Monday and Saturday. Good for a proper sweat in a short game. See the basketball page.

If you want social and skill-based

Netball and volleyball are the friendliest way in. Netball runs Tuesday through Friday and is welcoming for all levels. Indoor volleyball is a great social game with quick rallies. Check the netball page or the volleyball page.

If you want outdoors and summery

Beach volleyball is 6-a-side on the sand and about as fun as social sport gets. Touch football and touch rugby league are the pick if you like running and a bit of space, spread across the week including a new Friday Touch comp. Browse touch on the touch page.

Still can't decide? Pick your night

Honestly, the best sport is the one on a night you will actually show up for. Look at your timetable, find a free evening, and pick whatever is on then. You do not need a team for any of them, you can sign up solo and we will place you. There is something on most nights, so:

  • Monday: soccer, futsal, basketball, touch.
  • Tuesday to Friday: netball, plus volleyball and more midweek.
  • Saturday: basketball and volleyball.

See the full night-by-night list on the sign-up page.
