UQIC Guide
The cheapest way to play sport at UQ
A full season of social sport at UQ St Lucia starts at $85. That is one flat fee for the whole run, not a price per game. Here is what you get for it, how it compares, and how to keep the cost down.
$85 for a whole season
Most UQIC competitions are $85 for the season. A season runs for 10 weeks of games plus finals, so once you break it down it lands around $8 a game. That is one payment up front, no weekly court fees, no surprise costs on the night.
What that price includes
The fee is not just court time. Every registration covers:
- Your spot in a team for the full season.
- Ten weeks of games, refereed, at UQ St Lucia.
- Finals at the end of the season, with semi-finals in Week 9 and the grand final in Week 10.
- Player insurance while you play.
- Venue, gear like bibs and match balls, and someone running the night.
How it compares
Book a commercial court yourself and you are often paying per hour, split between however many people turn up, every single week. Most outside social leagues also charge more per season and do not come with a student community attached. At around $8 a game all in, UQIC is about the cheapest organised sport you will find near campus, and you are playing with other UQ students.
Ways to keep the cost down
- Sign up early. Popular nights fill up and prices are lowest before a comp sells out.
- Split a team with mates. Round up a group, share one team, and everyone gets the full season at the same low rate.
- Watch for faculty and launch discounts. We run seasonal codes on the sign-up page, so check there before you pay.
- Fuel for less. UQIC members get 20% off BSc protein and supplements at the on-campus store, collected free at St Lucia. See the supplement store.
How to sign up
Pick your sport and a night that suits your timetable on the sign-up page. You can register solo and we will place you in a team, or start a group and invite mates. New to it all?
