UQIC Captains
The captain's hub
Running a team is easy once you know where everything lives. Draws, wet weather, subs, forfeits and finals, all in one place. Bookmark this page and point your team here whenever they ask.
Your Facebook group is home base
Every sport has its own Facebook group and it is the main channel for everything game-day: the weekly draw, scores, the ladder, the finals bracket and any wet weather calls. Join it the moment you register and get your team in there too. Find yours on the groups page.
Where's my draw?
Fixtures go up before Round 1 in your sport's Facebook group, and each week's draw, scores and ladder are posted in the same place. Game times are also on the schedules page. Your game times and team allocation are emailed in Week 1, so keep an eye on your inbox and check your junk folder before the season starts.
Wet weather
If the weather looks dicey, check your sport's Facebook group before you head in. Cancellations and changes are posted there and they vary by sport, so that group is the fastest way to know if you are playing.
Short on players?
First, sort a sub. A substitute must be a fully registered UQIC player from another team in the same sport on the same night, and must be approved by UQIC through our socials before the first game of the night. Non-registered players cannot play under any circumstances, so no ring-ins.
If you have to forfeit
If you cannot field a team and cannot find a sub, message the UQIC comp page or your sport's Facebook group as early as you can. A heads up helps us and saves the other team a wasted trip. Repeated last-minute forfeits affect the whole comp and can cost your team competition points.
Adding players or changing your team
Teams lock after Round 1 for fairness and continuity, so new players come in as an approved sub or in unusual cases only. Anyone new has to register first. If your team is folding or numbers need rebalancing, email secretary@uqic.com.au and we will help.
The rules
Every sport's format, squad size and specific rules are on the rules page. Worth a quick read before Round 1 so you can answer your team's questions on the night. As captain you are also responsible for your team's behaviour, so read the UQIC Code of Conduct. Abuse of referees, staff and volunteers always carries a consequence, and the most serious conduct skips the warning and goes straight to a suspension. The full breakdown is under conduct and fair play.
Injuries and insurance
Registered players are covered by UQIC insurance during official games. If someone is hurt, tell the referee or a UQIC official on the night, get medical help as needed, and send any claim to secretary@uqic.com.au. Cover applies to registered players in official games only.
Season dates and finals
Semester 2 starts in Week 2, Monday 3 August 2026 and runs for 10 weeks. Finals are at the end of the season: semi-finals in Week 9 and the grand final in Week 10, with larger sports adding quarter-finals from Week 8. Jerseys are handed out before Round 1.
Still stuck?
